“Island Captive” by Jane Henry ~ Book Review

Island CaptiveIsland Captive by Jane Henry

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

MY RATING:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Solid 4-Stars!

“tears are a response to emotion, not pain” ~Adrian

U.S. Marshal, Nadine, tasked to find and capture Adrian, an escaped prisoner convicted of murder (huge alpha male btw!) both of whom get stuck on a island with no hope of rescue. . .enter dom / sub storyline.

A light captor / captive read with only 2 characters, can’t get more simple than that!

PROS:

🔥 – the novel is an easy, dip-your-toes into the captive / captor genre, without crossing too many lines. Many readers within the captor / captive genre have a difficult time with the issue of rape which usually goes hand in hand within the genre, this is avoided as much as possible which makes it more easily digestible for many.

🔥 – Stand-alone, HEA with an overall simple storyline. The novel doesn’t get complicated or burdened with tons of characters or intricate subplots.

CONS:

☠️ – Needs more character development, without it the novel was just short of being a 5-star read.

☠️ – The ending is WAAYYYYY unrealistic! It’s fiction and the storyline in general in unrealistic, yea I get it, but without giving away any spoilers the end just goes way over the top and makes unable to identify with the fantasy.

☠️ – Quite a few grammatical and spelling errors found, ugh! There is also a bondage part that is physically impossible which a reader that is more savvy on the subject would definitely pick up.

BOTTOM LINE:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Simple, summer read for erotic lovers or beginners into the captive / captor novels who want a light but dark read but isn’t too dark. (It is a great break from the heavy shit!) Take a whirl and see what you think!
